Build systems, not goals.
You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems - ‘Debola Deji-Kurunmi
A few days ago, I told my younger brother, who’s currently seeking admission, to create a plan for the next 6 months that he’ll be at home. Since January, I had introduced him to digital skills, and he’s currently gaining proficiency in programming. After submitting the first draft of the plan, I rejected it because all he had were goals. not systems.
This is the reason why many of our dreams go unfulfilled.
We have goals to acheive, but no systems to acheive them.
Here’s what a goal looks like: “Oh, I’ll lose 20 pounds by the end of 2 months”. Here’s what a plan looks like: “Every morning, before starting my day, I’ll go for a 2km run,. Then in the evening, I’ll visit the gym for 2 hours.”
One is merely a wish, while the other comes with an observable system to track it’s progress.
Simply put, you need to systemize your goals. Break them down into small daily tasks and take the initiative to start.
Creating systems isn’t easy. It means you have to unlearn all you’ve learnt, and hold yourself accountable to your system. 😂😂
So, start today, Start to create schedules instead of creating goals that are pretty much useless.
